Construction on the third and final phase of the Army’s new Company Operation Facilities at Ft. Bliss, Texas was completed in December 2010. Ramtech was the strategic subcontractor to Hensel Phelps responsible for structural design, manufacturing, and installation of eighteen 18,000 sf two-story buildings, and six 8,000 sf one-story buildings. Ramtech’s scope of work totaled 372,000 sf with their subcontracts for the three task orders totaling $32 million.
Originally started in April 2007 using an indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract, each task order had an approximate value of $24 million and included options for additional buildings under separate task orders. According to Gary White, Ramtech’s Vice President of Sales, “for multiple permanent buildings like these, our Accelerated Building System approach was ideal for a project of this size, providing the Army with new facilities much quicker than they would get with ordinary site construction.”
Ramtech has previously worked with Hensel Phelps on other high-profile projects, providing manufacturing and construction of temporary modular barracks facilities for the Army’s 4th infantry division at Fort Hood in Killeen, TX and critical medical swing space at the United States Air Force Academy.
