Rendering of the Marriott AC Hotel in Manhattan’s NoMad Neighborhood
The world’s tallest hotel is set to be built using modular construction in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood. Within five years it is estimated that 25% of all new hotel construction will use permanent modular construction as the preferred building method. Read more about it from the Bloomberg article here
Modular buildings are so hot they’ve even been considered for the Red Planet. A multimillion-dollar contest which was launched in 2015 by NASA challenged architectural teams to come up with various designs suitable for Mars. The goal is to provide future Mars inhabitants with permanent homes and other structures. A modular building idea from Arkansas-based Team Zoperhous, was a finalist in NASA’s Mars Habitat Design Competition.
