This month not only shepherds in the new year but brings with it a significant anniversary as Ramtech celebrates our 40th year in business and we begin our fifth decade in the commercial modular construction industry. Our success and longevity through this time has been built upon the talents and loyalty of our employees, both past and present, many of which have been with us for a significant part of our history. Ramtech’s President, Matt Slataper expressed it well by noting,
“Forty years is quite a milestone, and its truly a testimony to the loyalty and character of our incredible employees and the relationships that we’ve built, both with our industry partners and the customers that have made up the extended Ramtech family. Many of our employees have dedicated a majority of their professional lives to play a part in our mission, and I’m humbled and honored to work alongside them.”
As we start the new year, Ramtech’s vision for what can be accomplished through our design-build relocatable and permanent modular construction processes is now clearer than ever to the A/E community, our end-users, and all of the other project stakeholders that can utilize its benefits. Add to that the trends and tailwinds that continues to build for the entire commercial modular construction industry, and the future is as bright as it’s ever been. All of this will put Ramtech in a prime position to recognize significant growth and allow for all our employees to benefit on the promises of what we can build together as we move forward in 2022 and beyond.
Ramtech recently completed a relocatable modular school complex for the Greenhill School in Addison, Texas. The 5,016 square foot project, called the Science Village, will be used on an interim basis while the Dallas-area private school looks to demolish and build a new permanent facility.
The project requirement called for Ramtech to install six of our industry standard 24’ x 64’ LT portable double-classrooms in two rows end to end, along with a 12’ x 34’ girls and boys restroom module in the front of the complex. The buildings were set onto CMU block piers and connected using a site constructed concrete walkway and an extensive wood deck, ramps, and landing system. The building layout called for one of the portable classrooms to be used as an administrative office with multiple cubicles on each side. The buildings were also customized to include an interior door between the classrooms in the center partition wall.
Because the buildings are used primarily as science labs for the schools’ middle and high school students, the code requirements called for acid resistant piping to be used which was accommodated by installing Chem Drain CPVC for all the DWV lines. The exterior cladding of the modular buildings utilizes 26-gauge R-Panel commercial grade steel siding, along with 29-gauge R-Panel metal for the roofs. The interiors of the portable classrooms feature vinyl covered gypsum on the walls, VCT tile flooring, and lay-in acoustical tile ceilings. The heating and cooling for each classroom are accommodated using Bard exterior wall-mounted air conditioning units. To minimize any waste and to maximize the budget for the project, the cabinetry and science lab equipment was removed from the existing structure and installed in each of the science labs.
Founded in 1950 and located on 75 acres in Addison, Texas, the Greenhill School is comprised of 15 buildings, including a full athletic complex, a library facility, and the state-of-the-art Marshall Family Performing Arts Center with over 303,000 square feet under one roof. Greenhill has become one of the leading independent coeducational day schools in the DFW Metroplex, and now serves over 1,300 students in pre-k through the 12th grade.
Ramtech recently completed a permanent modular sales office building for Texas-based Aquamarine Pools. The new 1,680 square foot facility will allow the company to expand their retail operations with a second location in the DFW Metroplex. Located in Fort Worth, the new building is set on a large lot which will enable their sales team to respond to growing customer demand while providing more storage space for their large inventory of fiberglass and carbon-fiber composite pool designs. Ramtech was pleased to be able to head back down to the Rio Grande Valley recently and photograph the two commercial modular projects we previously completed for the Weslaco, Texas-based Payne Auto Group. The 2,400 square foot permanent modular buildings are being used as pre-owned sales centers for the auto dealership’s Harlingen and Edinburg locations in South Texas. Both buildings have exceeded the customers expectations and are contributing significantly to the company’s success in the area. (more…)
