This temporary school campus was part of an emergency procurement to provide interim space for the district’s middle school which was destroyed during the flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Manufactured and installed by Ramtech, the 36,908 square foot project included 17 portable classroom buildings, cafeteria and dining hall, modular toilet facilities, locker rooms, library, and administrative office area. Ramtech completed its scope of work in 45 days beginning in mid-September, less than two weeks after the Sour Lake community had received over 61 inches of rain. Ramtech was awarded the project based on previous experience with disaster recovery projects including a replacement elementary school for Deweyville (TX) ISD and an interim high school for West (TX) ISD.
