Ramtech has now completed the construction phase on the new elementary school for the Blue Ridge ISD. To recap, the Blue Ridge job was a multi-stage permanent modular construction project.
We first built an 18,088 square foot single-story middle school that provided for 12 classrooms, two science labs, and administrative office space. During the construction of the middle school, we started the site work to make way for the new two-story 28,200 square foot elementary school building. The facility features 17 classrooms, two science labs, administrative office space, and a comprehensive library and media center. Each facility has integrated data, communication and alarm systems, and a mechanical and lighting system designed to accommodate the school district’s energy management system. Both modular buildings incorporate a masonry exterior with a split-faced block wainscot to match the other surrounding structures.
Throughout the entire project, Ramtech kept strictly focused on the goals that Blue Ridge ISD had originally established. First and foremost, they wanted to develop a relationship with a proven construction firm that emphasized both value engineering and the ability to provide a 50 year life span building within an expedited construction timeframe. The School District was badly in need of new facilities. With many of their students in aging metal buildings, the local community pushed for more modern facilities and overwhelming passed a $7.3 million bond issue with 71% support. Prior to the bond issue, the district realized that their existing master plan and design concept developed by another firm would be prohibitively expensive and they needed an alternative approach. By working with Ramtech and utilizing our Accelerated Building System they found the perfect fit.
