At this year’s Modular Building Institute World of Modular Convention held March 21-24 at the J.W. Marriott Resort in San Antonio, Texas, Ramtech was recognized for 30 years of continuous membership and support of the MBI.
Founded in 1983, the MBI is the international non-profit trade association serving commercial the modular construction industry. The MBI membership is made up of manufacturers, contractors, dealers and associates serving two distinct segments of the industry, permanent modular construction and relocatable buildings. The MBI actively promotes the expanded use of modular and off-site construction techniques as well as acting as an advocate on legislative issues in order to deflect unwarranted or onerous legislation and regulations harmful to the commercial modular industry.
From its humble origin as the Mobile Modular Office Association in 1982, the MBI has flourished into an organization that supports over 267 corporate members. The current North American membership consists of 195 companies from the United States, 49 from Canada, and one from Mexico. There are also 22 member companies from other countries around the world. The recent World of Modular convention broke all previous attendance records by hosting over 645 participants.
Throughout our 30 year association with the MBI, Ramtech has typically had one of our representatives involved at the board of director or officer’s level in 24 of those years. We have had three current and former employees serve as Association President, with each of them also receiving the Industry’s Outstanding Achievement Award as well as a Hall of Fame Award. Ramtech’s long-standing MBI membership has greatly benefited both the company and the Association, reinforcing our belief that “you get out of it, what you put into it.”
