Ramtech is proud to announce that we have added to our long list of Modular Building Institute Awards of Distinction honors by receiving two first-place awards at this year’s MBI 2021 World of Modular Digital Conference and Tradeshow. This was the first ever all digital virtual event hosted by the MBI in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The conference was originally slated to be a live and in-person event to be held in San Diego March 8-12. However in October of last year when it became evident that the restrictions California placed on large gatherings would most likely continue into the new year, the MBI made the decision to put together a digital program that would closely align with the conference programs that they have used at previous years events.
The Awards of Distinction ceremony was delivered to registered attendees in a recorded broadcast via a link within the World of Modular conference app. Ramtech received a first-place award in the Permanent Modular Assembly Under 10,000 Square Feet category for an addition to the existing passenger terminal at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport in Panama City Beach, Florida. The Type IIB all-steel building addition was connected to the existing terminal structure using a site-built corridor. The nine factory-built modular sections were manufactured in three sizes to meet the buildings required configuration and installed by welding them onto a poured-in-place concrete pier foundation system. The 7,168 square foot modular building significantly increased the available passenger capacity and seating areas for the two gates that serve the airport’s regional jet operators.
The second award we received was a first-place trophy in the Permanent Modular Correctional category for the police department headquarters building that we completed for the City of Cottonwood Shores, TX. The 2,184 square foot facility provides additional space and room for growth for the city’s current five-officer police force. The permanent modular building was constructed using our pier and beam permanent modular construction approach, with the modular sections installed on a stem wall foundation system. The facility provides two private offices, a large open office area for the patrol officers, one intake and two interrogation rooms, a large evidence storage room, and a break room area. The building replaced a small, aging 720 square foot facility that was declared too structurally unsound for occupancy and could not be repaired or added on to.
